Play and exploration in the use of found objects and everyday materials have been a constant in Anna Macrae’s practice.
This current series continues to be grounded in a process-based art making approach, combined with the use of non-precious simple materials and mediums as she explores the physicality of materials.
Macrae gives a nod to traditional art history in her contemporary renderings of 2 and 3 dimensional forms as well as her adventures in the world of mud play with ceramics and plaster mediums.

Anna Macrae is a process driven artist. Her work is generated in response to the materials that she uses together with the techniques and processes that she has developed. She is interested in texture and surface and playing non-precious unconventional materials. She follows an intuitive path, where disrespect for conventions are primary.
Her intention is to honor the mundane and tell the story of moments in time, valuing those small pieces that make up the seemingly average – knowing that they are important and can be seen, if you know how to look.
Macrae surrenders to the rules of chance and natural intuition as she makes and plays.
